my evaluation
Over the course of the year I found out a lot of about me that I didn't know before. This is my first year of online school and I have found it really difficult to stay motivated. My strengths were going to the Monday classes and actually being in front of a teacher to learn. It made me do my work. Also, the crossword puzzle assignments were a strength because I was actually interested in doing them. I faced many challenges with online school. It was hard for me to be motivated, especially with classes like Econ because I don't enjoy it one bit. When it came to completing assignments for classes, I got lazy and I let it get to me. Once you miss one assignment, it's really hard to get back on track since all your homework is due every Friday. Another weak point was not having a teacher in front of you to ask for help. I've had many times where I'm doing my homework and I get really confused on a certain thing and I've emailed my teacher asking for help and they took forever to get back to me, or they don't explain it well for me to understand. It's really frustrating not understanding an assignment and not having someone in my house who understands and can explain it to me. Also, writing has always been a weak point for me. I'm not the best writer and I've noticed the English portion has a lot of writing involved. I feel like I did make progress in my writing though. I noticed that my grading from the criterion went up with each journal entry I completed.
Parent Evaluation
After reading Aprils portfolio I feel she has reached her goals and requirements. She under estimates her capability of her writing skills. As a child she would write stories in her journals that were so detailed and specific. Her imagination in her creative writing is astonishing. They always seemed to move me emotionally as well as if I was reading a well known author. She has the ability to make the reader feel like you are connected to the story. All of these reasons are why I feel she has followed the rubric for completing this assignment.
